Summer is a wonderful time to be outside, but it brings its own special set of potential skin troubles. When I was younger, I spent nearly every summer day outside and was constantly suffering from poison ivy, roller coaster-induced stomachaches, bug bites, sunburns, bumps, and bruises.

My mother always used to tell me that the reason mosquitoes, bees, and ticks were attracted to me was because I was so sweet. This reassurance was never as relieving as the pink lotion I’d cover myself in after nearly every day I spent outside. I would often top that off with blue, chemical-filled gel, disguised as aloe vera. (More like “aloe scare-a”.)
