Natural First Aid
Relieve the sting of warm weather ouches
with Emily Ray

Sidebar: First
aid essentials
Summer is a wonderful time to be outside, but it brings its own
special set of potential skin troubles. When I was younger, I
spent nearly every summer day outside and was constantly suffering
from poison ivy, roller coaster-induced stomachaches, bug bites,
sunburns, bumps, and bruises.
My mother always used to tell me that the reason mosquitoes, bees,
and ticks were attracted to me was because I was so sweet. This
reassurance was never as relieving as the pink lotion I’d
cover myself in after nearly every day I spent outside. I would
often top that off with blue, chemical-filled gel, disguised as
aloe vera. (More like “aloe scare-a”.)
