Construction impact: Describe the building site before construction. Were any measures taken to protect the existing ecosystem? Was the site chosen as an act of repair (reclamation of a tobacco field or neglected city lot for example)? Were any site-harvested or local materials used in the construction process? Were construction materials recycled in the construction process?

Energy and resource efficiency: What is the source of electricity for the home/business? Does the house/business utilize passive solar design/active solar/geothermal? If so, how? How is the building insulated? Describe the heating and cooling system. Were any water conservation measures taken in the system design? Is there a greywater system, surface water reclamation, or raincatchment? What is the source of electricity for the home? How much electricity, water, petroleum, wood, etc. are consumed on a monthly basis to run the house/business?

Longevity: How long do you think the house/business will survive over time? What are the maintenance issues and requirements? What kind of roof surface and exterior wall skin does the building have? Describe something you did that cost more money, but will extend the life of the property.

Non-toxicity: What measures were taken to insure good indoor air quality? What kind of interior finishes were used? Does the house/business require mechanical dehumidification (this includes HVAC cooling)?

Beauty: What is special about your house/business? Why do you love it? Do you plan to live/work there the rest of your life?

Ecosystem: How does your house/business interface with the place where it sits? Do you garden? Have you planted trees, created animal habitats, etc.? What projects do you have planned for the next five years? What do you feel the net effect of your project will be on the local ecosystem?

Certification: Is the house/business certified through HealthyBuilt Home, Energy Star, or any other rating program?

Development Impact: Describe the development impact? Are you in an urban or rural setting, etc.?
