Connecting with Plants

My mother once asked me if in order to know a plant did it help to know its name? I answered with a definite--yes. Of course. The name often says so much about the plant, it’s flower color, shape or the state in which is it commonly found. How could you walk through a garden without knowing what you were looking at? Discovering the Energetics of Local Herbs
Part of the wonder and magic of Chinese medicine is the use of “energetics” to describe diseases and treatments. To describe energy in a quantifiable way that can be communicated and taught, many traditional cultures discussed disease as if it was weather. To people living close to the earth, talking about a problem as “hot” or “cold” makes as much intuitive sense as talking about how a hot summer will wilt their crops, or too much rain would drown their seedlings.

Wild vigorous health and vitality – do these words describe your state of well-being? If not, perhaps you are overlooking some very important sources of nutrients right in your own backyard!
