Not only is our area known as the salamander capital of the world, but "we are in some of the most bio-diverse areas on the entire planet outside of the tropical rainforest," says Paul Gallimore, director of Long Branch Environmental Education Center (LBEEC) just outside of Asheville; the organization strives to encourage conservation of all ecosystems and natural resources.
